Valerie’s Lifestyle and Weight Management Program

What is a Lifestyle and Weight Management Consultant?

Years ago it became clear to the American Council on Exercise that the true solution to Americans’ sedentary lifestyles and growing weight problems would require a meeting of the mind – the integration of basic exercise science with nutrition. Successfully losing weight requires a multifaceted approach: sound nutrition, safe and effective physical activity, appropriate lifestyle changes and psychological and emotional support.

Why Three Week Intervals?

It takes 21 days to make or break a habit, and with smaller short-term goals before long a string of smaller goals will emerge into a healthier lifestyle.

What does the program consist of?

First Three Weeks

  • After making an appointment our initial meeting will consist of visiting for about an hour and discussing your goals, your lifestyle, weight history, eating and exercise patterns, and previous attempts to change your lifestyle.

  • It will also include an initial body fat testing, taking your measurements, and determining your weight.

  • We will target some behaviors to change, set some specific eating and exercise goals and then commit to the goals outlined.

  • You will email me your food intake daily, but you will also have my support and guidance as lifestyle changes come into view.

  • We will then meet the same time each week for about 30 minutes to go over the progress of the week and make any adjustments needed.

  • At the end of the three weeks, I will take your body fat, measurements and weight.

Second Three Weeks

  • Going into the next three weeks, you will continue to communicate your food menu to me daily through email. The support will not end there, because you will see me in the club daily.

  • We will meet weekly for about 30 minutes to continue to progressively change your eating and exercise patterns.

  • At the end of the three weeks, I will take your body fat percentage, measurements and weight.

  • We will then increase your exercise and evaluate your caloric intake.

Third Three Weeks

  • Depending on what your goals are, the third three weeks will consist of pushing past any plateaus and determining what it will take to do so. We will still communicate through emails and the daily support in the club.

  • As you are making changes inside and out, we will also go over the how, when and where it will also change your lifestyle.

  • At the end of the three weeks, I will take your body fat, measurements and weight. We will then go over any further goals and the necessary actions to attain them.

Maintenance

  • Maintenance is for relapse prevention and follow-up support to help you maintain your behavior changes. Once a month we will meet to review and evaluate your progress, go over behavior management principles and recommit to any changes.
